There were 3 chapter committees were formed beside the SWAAN central committee and the chapter committee meetings were organized regularly to speed up the process. Active committee formation, constitution review and updating, fund raising, membership and registration, regulation, record keeping and different other issues crucial to support the central committee were discussed through the meeting.
Attracting, training and retaining of farmers is a priority issue for future aquaculture development and SWAAN believes that if south west aquaculture is going to have a strong and sustainable future, then there is no other option to train the farmers of this region. Training opportunities can be a great way to equip the farmers with the right tools and skills to start or manage an aquaculture pond/ farm.
Quality fish seed is the principal indispensable for aquaculture production, but getting them available timely is the major problem faced by farmers. Considering to enlightening fish farmers on the need to use quality fish seed in aquaculture and guide them on how to get or produce quality seed, SWAAN is jointly working with public-private sectors
